Dr. Kari Torkelson
Dr. Torkelson’s priority is each patient’s health. Providing quality eye care in Lifetime Vision Center’s comfortable environment allows Dr. Torkelson to meet one-on-one with wonderful patients, improving their quality of life with better vision.

Optometry is changing rapidly, with new advances and technologies, and Dr. Torkelson is dedicated to lifelong learning. Her professional memberships and certifications allow her to provide patients with the latest insights and approaches to eye care. Her involvement includes:

- AOA Contact Lens and Low Vision Sections
- More than 120 hours in advanced professional courses on topics, including treatment of eye diseases, contact lenses, low vision and pharmacology

- Co-author of article in the Journal of the American Academy of Optometry, “Normal Tension Glaucoma and Central Corneal Thickness”
Dr. Sophia Swanson
As an optometrist, Dr. Swanson enjoys being part of her patient’s health care team. “Just by examining a patient’s eyes, I can see how lifestyle influences and overall health status can have a huge impact on their current eye health, how their eyes age, and how well they see.” An exam can provide useful information to the patient and those professionals involved in managing a systemic condition such as diabetes or high blood pressure. Good control of blood sugar and blood pressure can help prevent or delay vision problems.
Dr. Swanson’s education and training includes:
- Doctor of Optometry, Pacific University, Forest Grove, OR. Graduated with honors from School of Optometry.
- Bachelor of Science, Community Dietetics, University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, ND
