OPTOMAP

Lifetime Vision Center is the only facility in Grand Forks that offers an Optomap retinal exam.

An Optomap Retinal Exam is unique in that it gives our doctors a much larger view (200 degrees) of the back of your eye - your retina - than can normally be viewed without dilation.

Each Optomap image is as individual as fingerprints or DNA and can provide our doctors with a unique view of your eyes health quickly and comfortably. The Optomap image is captured in less than a second and is immediately available for you and our doctors to review. The exam is quick and painless with no discomfort associated with dilating drops.

Stratus OCTOCT - OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHER

Lifetime Vision Center is the only clinic in the area to offer the OCT. With the Stratus OCT it is possible to diagnose Glaucoma years before it is detected with visual field testing.

In an effort to stay a step ahead of the curve when it comes to the welfare of our patients, Lifetime Vision Center recently purchased the OCT3. This instrument will aid our doctors in detecting and diagnosing glaucoma and retinal diseases including macular degeneration.

NEW CORNEAL MEASUREMENT TECHNOLOGY

Humphrey Corneal TopographerWe now have the most advanced corneal mapping technology with the Humphrey Corneal Topographer. Corneal topography is a three dimensional imaging process used to map the surface power of the cornea. The data points gathered are then digitized and analyzed by sophisticated computer software. The result is a detailed map of the corneal curvature much like a topographical map of land.

With this information the doctors are able to design soft and gas permeable contact lenses with curvature changes every 10 microns creating the ultimate custom lens. This results in a more comfortable contact lens and better vision. Best of all, it is quick, painless, and included in all contact lens fittings. In addition, data gathered from topography can be used in the diagnosis of corneal disease and curvature abnormalities.

Also, this instrument is essential for determining if a patient is a candidate for refractive surgery and managing their pre-operative and post-operative care.

VISUAL FIELD TESTING

Humphrey FDTLifetime Vision Center is dedicated to ocular disease diagnosis and management. All examinations include screening visual fields with the Humphrey FDT, a breakthrough in technology that is accurate and completed in less than 45 seconds per eye.

The Octopus 123 produces full threshold fields in approximately 2 minutes - the fastest in the industry. The Octopus 123 with its advanced Tendency Oriented Perimetry (TOP) enables the doctors to diagnose, treat, and manage diseases that result in the visual field loss including glaucoma.
